maya government
The Maya government was organized into city states. each city state was under control of one noble family, and the control of the city passed from father to son. The Maya had no central government. Even though they had many different cities controlled by different rulers, all the Maya people all spoke the same language and lived by the same rules. The head noble of each city had advisers to help him rule, and he chose these advisers. The ruler made the laws, and most of the decisions.
maya holidays, celebrations, and traditions
In the Maya civilization every 20th day was a festival. these festivals included many things, like bloodletting, and occasionally they would play the Maya ball game. For the Maya ball game they would have some captives play the game versus the Maya team, and the Maya team would nearly always win, and the losers (normally the captives would be sacrificed) though sacrifice was not always a part of these festivals.

During this holiday people sit out food near their deceased's grave, and it is supposed to be an offering to them, they normally lay out their favorite foods for them to eat.
2) Maya people would bury their deceased under their house, or if they were a noble or king possibly under a pyramid. they don't do this today, but they do honor their deceased on the day of the dead in mexico.
3) Another tradition that the ancient Maya had was human sacrifice, they did this because they thought their gods needed blood to get stronger. Of course they don't practice this today, but it was very important in the past.
